Robert J. “Bob” Goins of Dansville, died suddenly Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at Morgan Estates in Geneseo at the age of 85.
Robert was born on July 23, 1926, in Pryor Okla., the son of the late Elbert and Dorothy Goins. On April 19, 1952, he married Dolores Caruso Goins, who predeceased him on Nov. 5, 2004. Bob was an engineer with Xerox Corp. in Rochester prior to his retirement in 1974. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dansville, and over the years he had been active in the church in many roles.
Bob is survived by his sons, Keith (Marie) Goins of Dansville and David (Wendy) Goins of Dansville; sister, Joetta (Don) Edelen of Texas; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister, Deatta McAbee; and brother, Eugene Goins.
There were no prior calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary’s church in Dansville. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery in Dansville. Arrangements by the Sullivan Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Dansville.
