Heather P. Frazer Boyum died suddenly July 29, 2012, at age 40. She was born Oct. 14, 1971, in Chicopee Falls, Mass., to Graham and Candy Frazer, who survive.

Heather was raised in Dansville and graduated from Dansville High School in 1989. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from William Smith College in 1993 and followed with a Masters in Education from the University of Rochester. She began her teaching career in 1999 at the Palmyra–Macedon High School. In 2002 Heather accepted a position she loved at the Fairport High School teaching biology and chemistry.

Heather was a fierce competitor in all areas of her life but began running competitively in 2009 and moved to triathlons in 2010. She was so proud of completing her first half Ironman Triathlon at the Mussleman in Geneva on July 15.

She is survived by her husband of 10 years, Eric; children, Frazer, 7, and Paige, 4; grandmother, Mary Alice Packard; brothers, Graham (Barb) Frazer and Bill (Mel) Frazer; mother-in-law, Wanda (Mike LaBrake) Richardson; father-in-law, Ronald Boyum; brother-in-law, Matt (Ashley) Richardson; niece, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Heather lived life with a passion. Family was her life. Eric, Frazer and Paige were her pride and joy. She was loved by everyone she met. She was a role model for her students, and an inspiration to all athletes. A friend of Heather’s was a friend for life.

Friends and family called Wednesday, Aug. 1, at the Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home in Fairport while the funeral service was held Thursday Aug. 2, at St. John of Rochester Church also in Fairport. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Heather Boyum Memorial Children’s Educational Fund c/o Elissa DeChick at Fairport High School, 1 Dave Paddock Way, Fairport, NY 14450.
