Anne W. “Nancy” Pappas of Dansville, peacefully passed Oct. 6, 2012, in Rochester after a long illness at the age of 77.
Nancy was born on Feb. 22, 1935, in Sonyea the daughter of the late Martin and Grace Walker. Nancy graduated from Dansville High School in 1953 and from Alfred State in 1956 with a major in floriculture. She started her career as a florist at McGregor’s Florist Shop in Rochester. She was a longtime member of the Dansville business community as owner and operator of Pappas Flowers. Nancy’s floral designs were an expression of her creative spirit for more than 30 years.
On Dec. 30, 1960, she was married to her husband constantine “Deno” Pappas, who predeceased her on Sept. 17, 2011. Nancy is survived by her son, Dean M. Pappas of New Jersey; daughter, Kathryn (Stephen) Lawe of New Hampshire; grandchildren, Spencer and Julia Lawe of New Hampshire; sister, Margaret Yacobucci of Buffalo, and many nieces and nephew.
Nancy’s family would like to thank the staff of St. John’s Home and the staff of Hospice of Rochester for their compassionate care, kindness and support.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at the Sullivan Funeral Home and cremation center 4 Perine St. in Dansville. A memorial services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17, at St. Peters Episcopal Church in Dansville at 10 p.m. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
