Dorothy M. Buell, 96, passed away early Saturday morning Jan. 21, 2012, at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville.

She was born in Dansville on Feb. 11, 1915, a daughter of the late Fay and Louise (Werth) Lawrence. She was also predeceased by her husband, Emrie Buell, and several siblings.

Dorothy was a registered nurse and had worked for the Wayland Central School District for 30 years as the school nurse. She was a former public health worker for Livingston County and at Dansville Memorial Hospital before her career at Wayland. Dorothy was a member and past matron of the Priscilla Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in South Dansville. She was also a member of the Wayland and New York State Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by her two children, Leslie (Jane) Buell of East Williamson and Merry Alice (Loren) Patterson of South Dansville; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Friends called Tuesday at Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville, where services will be at the completion of calling hours.

Interment will be in Rogersville Forest Lawn Cemetery, South Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at hindlefuneralhome.com.
