Paul Anthony “Paulie” Bonjorno died peacefully at home on June 23, 2012, with loved ones by his side. Born in Rochester on Nov. 20, 1956. Son of  Russell J. Bonjorno (d. 11/7/2005) and Ellen Jane Bonjorno (d. 9/2/2008). Brother of Penny (Bob) Margrett, Sheboygan, Wis.; Linda Haines, Dansville; Russell J. (Denise) Bonjorno, Jr., Tampa, Fla.; Ellen M. Bonjorno, Port Townsend, Wash. Paul leaves Special Friends Jim Weidman and Nancy Cimino; Marilyn, Kiley and Alyssa Kimbel, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Paul was a 1975 graduate of Dansville High School, and in 1976 joined Fearless Hook and Ladder Company No. 1 of the Dansville Fire Department. He served for 36 years, holding many positions within the organization, including Captain (1989-1991). In 1983, Paul joined the Dansville Ambulance Company, where he was a veteran of 1,000  ambulance runs over a 25-year career as a driver and Emergency Medical Technician.

Employed since 1998 as a Professional Motor Coach Operator for Livingston Area Transportation Service, and the recipient of numerous awards, including a 2012 Above and Beyond award presented by Rochester Genesee Regional Transit Authority, Paulie will be remembered for his friendly smile, helpful attitude, and sense of humor.

Paul had many hobbies and interests including snowmobiling, train-watching, repairing and restoring cars (especially his 1963 Oldsmobile), hot air ballooning, antique fire trucks, covered bridges and long country drives.

Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Friday, June 29, at Hindle Funeral Home, 271 Main St., Dansville. A Funeral Mass will be celebratedat 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30 at Sacred Heart Church in Perkinsville.

Donations in Paul’s memory may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the Dansville Fire Department or Livingston County Hospice.
