DANSVILLE — Charles S. Buck, age 82, formerly of Dansville, passed away early Wednesday morning, Feb. 27, 2013, at the Genesee County Nursing Home in Batavia following a long illness.

He was born in Dansville on Dec. 16, 1930, a son of the late Stanley Charles and Ellen (Burns) Buck. 

On Jan. 23, 1954, he was married to Geraldine “Gerri” Comardo Buck, who predeceased him on May 2, 1996. 

He was also predeceased by a brother-in-law Frank Welton.

Charlie and Geraldine owned and operated Wm. Buck and Sons Nursery in Dansville for many years retiring in 1980.

 Their concentration was on the propagation of fruit trees and supplying gladiola flowers for local florist in Dansville. 

He was a U.S. Army veteran, member and Past Commander from 1970-71of the Daniel Goho Post No. 87 of The American Legion where he also was active with the Honor Guard, Marching in Parades, Project Christmas and other Post Home activities. 

Charlie was also a former active member of the Troop No. 87 of the Boy Scouts of America. 

In his free time he enjoyed country music, gardening and bird watching.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandra (Paul) Briggs of Dansville; two sons; Larry (Donna) Buck of Byron and Roger Buck of Canandaigua; four grandchildren, Kyle Buck of South Carolina, Ashley Briggs of Dansville, Michelle (John) Tracy of California and David (Corinne) Mirinucci of Webster; four great-grandchildren, Melody, Sarah and Ben Tract and Jordyn Buck; three sisters, Jean Welton of Dansville, Freda Wadams of Florida, and Colleen (Barry) Davis of Wayland, many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Saturday 1-4 p.m. at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville, where services will be held at the completion of calling hours. 

Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dansville.
