A smile was on just about everyones' faces Saturday on Main Street.
A cash mob made up of Livingston County Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Council members strolled up and down Main Street and other local shops cheerfully handing out stickers and magnets that said, “I Shopped in Livingston Today” as well as “Shop On the Spot” gifts like Monk’s Bread and Nunda Mustard to lucky folks seen shopping.
Several Main Street shops participated in the event by having coupons available in their stores. Toadally Wine, Tony's Pizzeria, Book Den, MacFadden Coffee Co, AJ's Mercantile & Craft Supplies, and One 29 Main were participating stores.
Toadally Wine co-owners Mike and Denise Cloonan said a half hour after opening, that it was already an extremely successful day. In that amount of time, about five people took advantage of its $15 off coupon for its four-week wine-making class.
Mike Cloonan said that usually a Saturday tends to have a lot of window shoppers, but that day it had more people purchasing.
A lot of people coming in were also first-timers, he said, who were unfamiliar with what the shop was all about.
“The Dansville Merchants were engaged and eager for Cash Mob day as were many local shoppers,” Livingston County Tourism director and In-County architect Lisa Burns said. “This was all about awareness of shopping local and Dansville really ‘gets it.’”
As soon as this was over, the chamber rolled right into launching a Dine in LivIINgston campaign, which runs all this month.
