A fallen tree on Depot Road fell across utility lines and cut power to more than 300 NYSEG customers in Dansville Wednesday afternoon.
The tree, which had been standing on the east side of Depot Road, toppled before 2 p.m. Wednesday. Dansville police and crews from town and village public works departments were among the first to respond. Subcontractors joined the worksite to clear the tree from Depot Road.
NYSEG cut power through the lines, leaving 336 customers without power on a 23-degree day. Vehicle access was restricted through the area until utility lines were safely removed from traffic areas.
As of this writing, power was estimated to return to customers by 7 p.m. Wednesday.
NYSEG serves 4,386 customers in Dansville. Affected customers were on Austin Street, Chestnut Avenue, Cottage Street, Elizabeth Street, Health Street, Highland Avenue, Liberty Street, Morey Avenue, Perine Street, Seward Street, Sophia Street, William Street and Wilmot Street.
