Out of 154 entries, Dansville Fire Department presented 28 awards to Dansville youth Nov. 20 for its annual Fire Prevention contest.
Each entry was based on the theme, "Have Two Ways Out." Awards were given inside the Dansville Fire Department garage.
Certificates of first through third place winners went to students in grades Pre-K through 8. Posters were designed by K through 4th graders, while essays were written by fifth through seventh graders. While this year's contest included poster and essay entries as in previous years, two new categories were featured in this year's contest - graphic design and video. Fifth and sixth graders entered the graphic design category while sixth grade also entered video.
First place winners will have their work go to New York State judging with the exception of essays, which goes to county, then regional, then state.
