GENESEO — The Livingston County SHAPE Committee organized another great No-Shave November contest for the employees at the Government Center in Geneseo.
No-Shave November is a month-long journey during which participants forgo shaving and grooming in order to evoke conversation and raise cancer awareness. A dozen employees that work at the Government Center participated in the beard growing contest and over 65 people contributed to the cause by either sponsoring a beard or simply donating.
This week, two representatives from Noyes Health, Mary Sue Dehn and Marilyn Moore, were tasked with judging the contestants to determine the winner. Josh Wren from the Probation Department raised the most money through sponsorships ($80). Stewart Atkin from the Center for Dispute Settlement placed 3rd, Shawn Murphy from the Department of Labor received 2nd Place and David DiPasquale from the Board of Elections was crowned First Place winner.
Mary Sue Dehn and Marilyn Moore were presented with a total of $600 to support the Ann and Carl Myers Cancer Center at UR Noyes Hospital in Dansville. Last year was the first year the SHAPE committee organized a No-Shave November contest raising $400. The 2018 contest included three times the contestants and the hope is to continue to grow this tradition every November to raise awareness for cancer.
