DANSVILLE — With hunting season now in full swing, the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is putting those doing it illegally on notice.

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on Nov. 25, deputies of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office and officers of the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Police conducted a compliance checkpoint on State Route 36 in Dansville. As a result of this checkpoint:

Department of Environmental Conservation Police arrested Dylan J. Young, 26, of Norman Road, Rochester, New York. It is alleged that Mr. Young hunted deer without a license, illegally took a deer and failed to tag the deer. Young was released on appearance tickets to appear in Dansville Town Court on Jan. 22, 2019.

Department of Environmental Conservation Police also arrested Lawrence C. Morreall, 65, of County Road 39, Bloomfield. It is alleged that Morreall took a deer in excess of bag limit and transported untagged portions of a deer. Mr. Morreall was released on appearance tickets to appear in Dansville Town Court on January 22, 2019.

Deputies also arrested Ryan P. Conway, 21, of Main Street, Dansville. It is alleged that Conway operated a motor vehicle on State Route 36 in Dansville while impaired by drugs. Conway was charged with driving while ability is impaired by drugs and cited for unlawful possession of marijuana. Conway was released on an appearance ticket and traffic summons to appear in Dansville Town Court at a later date.
