MOUNT MORRIS — For over a century, a local furniture store has been owned and operated by four generations of the same family.
Sam and Mary Bozzette founded the Mt. Morris Furniture Store on Main Street in 1913, and the family lived on the second floor. In 1956 the Bozzette’s retired and their son, Louis, took over the strong tradition. After the current owner, Jim Stallone, married into the family he began working with his father-in-law in 1972.
In 2000, Kristin Stallone DiProsa became the director of marketing and advertising. Mount Morris Furniture has been committed to serving the needs of their customers for generations.
Stallone has owned the store for a decade, and he has continued to grow the family business.
“We focus on our customers, excellent products, and a fair price,” he said. “We cater to middle America with a balance of prices.”
Stallone said that his store is unique, and that it offers more than the big box stores do. Mount Morris Furniture will deliver custom-made furniture all over the country.
“We are different, because in most box stores what you see is what you get,” he said. “With us you can customize your sofa, loveseat, beds, tables and recliners.”
Stallone said they carry as much Made in America items as they can in the store. The best selling item in the store has always been the sofas. They not only offer unique custom options, but also a lifetime warranty on the products.
There is a huge showroom both upstairs and downstairs with the product lines growing every year. Right now the store just got in partnership with Daniel’s Amish out of Ohio. Hallagan is a major line the store works with that customizes the size, color, legs, arms, and cushions of the couch.
With small business family-owned stores like Mt. Morris Furniture you get a personal experience when deciding what to buy for your home. You get an opportunity to talk with the owner, and decide the look and feel of your furniture.
Stallone mentioned that the warehouse had been added on to the store in the 70s to expand the inventory.
“We can replace floor items that have been sold right away with the inventory in the warehouse,” he said. “We have a huge amount of repeat customers. We don’t high pressure people with sales, and we offer them a personal experience.”
There are now about seven models of power recliners to choose from in the store, and that is another high selling item.
There is a juvenile room collection upstairs that comes in grey, white or cherry finish. The higher end wood is made by the Amish.
The store tries to keep a multitude of color options on the floor to show what the furniture would look like in your home.
What you see as you glance through the windows of Mt. Morris Furniture are among the high selling items in the store.
