DANSVILLE — Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty Wednesday evening reported the arrest of a level three NYS registered sex offender after an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.

It is alleged that Raymond L. Scott Sr., 45, of Dansville, had created and was using a Facebook account under a fictitious name that he had not registered with New York State.

The New York State Corrections Law states that any sex offender shall register with the New York State Sex Offender Registry, no later than 10 calendar days after any change of address, internet accounts with internet access providers belonging to such offender, internet identifiers that such offender uses, or his or her status of enrollment, attendance, employment or residence at any institution of higher education.

On Sept. 25, Sheriff’s Investigator Dan Rittenhouse arrested and charged Raymond Scott with Failure to Register and Verify, a class E felony in the NYS Corrections Law.

Scott was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. The District Attorney’s Office was contacted in regards to bail due to the felony level charge and $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond was recommended.

Scott was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Groveland Justice David Livingston. The Judge remanded Scott to the custody of the Sheriff on the recommended bail of $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond.

The investigation was conducted in coordination with the Village of Dansville Police Department.
