The deadline for voters to register for the Nov. 6 general election is drawing near.

Eligible voters, which include those who are U.S. citizens, will have been a New York resident for at least 30 days, will turn 18 years of age before the next election, are not in prison for a felony conviction, and do not claim the right to vote elsewhere, may mail in a registration form to their local board of elections, or register at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Mailed registration forms must be postmarked by Friday, Oct. 12, and must be received by the board of elections no later than Wednesday, Oct. 17.

If you're a registered voter who has recently relocated, you'll need to update your registration by that same deadline.

On November 6, polls will open at 6 a.m. and close at 9 p.m.
