GENESEO — The Livingston County Historian’s Office is a recipient of grant funds from The William G. Pomeroy Foundation for a historic roadside marker in commemoration of the Centennial of Women’s Suffrage in New York State.

The new marker to be installed by the Village of Geneseo DPW, will honor the legacy of suffragists Nicholas Shaw Fraser and Eleanor Shaw Smith. These sisters dedicated their lives to advancing the cause of women’s suffrage, equal opportunity, and social reform.

The public is cordially invited to the unveiling and dedication ceremony of the “SHAW SISTERS” Historic Marker on Thursday, Aug. 23 at 4 p.m. at 22 Main Street, Geneseo.
