MOUNT MORRIS — A Wayland woman has been arrested on felony charges after an investigation into welfare fraud.

On July 25, Livingston County Sheriff’s Investigator Gene Chichester arrested and charged Cassandra L. Cansdale, 23, with felony fourth-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree welfare fraud.

It is alleged that Cansdale applied for and received benefits from the Livingston County Department of Social Services and applied for those benefits using false information. Cansdale's alleged actions resulted in an over-payment of $1,179 in benefits that she was not entitled to.

Cansdale was arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LCCAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Mount Morris Justice David Provo. The Judge released Cansdale without bail conditions to answer charges at a later date.
