MOUNT MORRIS —  Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of two Mt. Morris residents on drug possession charges following a traffic stop.

On June 17, Deputy Shawn Whitford was assigned to the Sheriff’s Operation Safe Interstate initiative when he stopped a vehicle for NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law violations that occurred on Interstate 390.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Juan R. Baez-DeJesus, 48, of Mount Morris. There was also a passenger in the vehicle that was identified as Nichol E. Pizarro-Lopez, 33, of Mount Morris. During the course of the Deputy Sheriff’s roadside investigation, he reportedly discovered that the two were in possession of several bags of heroin.

Baez-DeJesus and Pizarro-Lopez were arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree. Baez-DeJesus was also found to be in possession of Suboxone strips that he did not have a prescription for, so he received an additional charge of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree.

Baez-DeJesus and Pizarro-Lopez were turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.

Baez-DeJesus and Pizarro-Lopez were later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part at the Livingston County Jail (LC-CAP) before Judge Harris. The Judge did release both Baez-DeJesus and Pizarro-Lopez on their own recognizance (ROR) and Deputies set them free.
