BATH - The McDonald’s on West Morris Street is getting a much-needed makeover.

Construction started in late March to build a new building next to the old restaurant, built in the early 1990s, to keep up with the growing demand for Big Macs, french fries and Happy Meals.

Mulvey Construction crews, of Lockport, recently broke ground on the project and are currently digging out the footer system which will support the new McDonald’s, said Bath Village Code Building Inspector Ralph Senese.

“The are building the new McDonald’s,” Senese said. “They have built a few other McDonalds in the past.”

Senese said the new McDonald’s is expected to be completed and open for business in late June.

The new one-story restaurant will feature updated equipment, more kitchen space and an improved drive-thru, cutting down the line of cars around lunchtime, officials said. It will also feature additional parking.
