DANSVILLE — For the first time Dansville Central had a school supply giveaway in the Elementary gymnasium on Aug.17.

It was a district-wide chance to get some free school supplies, and to many this was a great opportunity to get some things off their children’s list.

There were tables full of backpacks, notebooks, loose leaf paper, crayons, markers, binders, index cards, and more.

Elementary Principal Lisa Johnson said this was a very good thing for the entire school district.

“It is a great resource for the families,” she said. “The list can be very overwhelming, so I am glad we could help out.”

Johnson said the funds came from Salvation Army Red Kettle Drive. Dansville C.A.N.N. also helped with supplies.

“I hope we will be able to do it again next year,” she said. “All the money raised stayed in the community. I am glad a lot of people showed up for this.”

They will know if there is enough money for next year down the road.
