DANSVILLE — Dansville Moose Riders are loyal to the bone when it comes to helping others.

On Aug. 12  at noon the Dansville Moose Riders will have a ride to benefit Vincent House in Wayland at the Dansville Moose Lodge. Registration runs from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The ride includes a hot meal at 5 p.m. with $10 tickets for take outs or meals. There will be a 50/50 raffle and door prizes. Anyone interested in doing the ride it is $20 per-rider and $30 per-couple.

Dansville Chapter No. 670 Senior Regent Sheila Freas told Genesee Country Express a little background on the ride.

"In April 2012 we decided to pick the Vincent House because many of us had family members that had been in hospice houses.  We also found out that the Vincent House didn't have a bike run associated with it," she said. "Our very first year we raised $1,500 for the Vincent House from our run.  We have donated just under $9,000 between the Polar plunge and our run to the Vincent House since 2012."

"The Moose Riders are an activity group of the Moose Lodge.  There are Moose Rider groups all over the US and Canada.  We started out as six Moose members that just like to get together and ride on the weekend," Freas continued. " From there we became official Moose Riders and have been doing a run each year. Our run is always the second Saturday in August and all are welcome. To become a Moose Rider you have to be a Moose member first."
