OSSIAN — An Ossian woman is behind bars after allegedly attacking a male victim who was taking by Dansville Ambulance to Noyes Hospital were he was treated for a cut on his hand.
On July 4 at about 10 p.m. Sherry Arviso, 53, of Ossian was arrested and charged with felony first-degree criminal contempt, third-degree assault, and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
Further investigation revealed that the incident started with a verbal altercation between the male and Arviso. This led to Arviso damaging property, which included chairs and glasses in the kitchen. During the course of Arviso damaging the property, the male received the cut to his hand. It was also discovered that there were active court issued orders of protection in place between the parties involved," Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty said.
Arviso was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. The District Attorney's Office recommended bail at $7,500 cash or $15,000 bond in the matter.
Arviso was later arraigned in the village of Dansville Court before Justice Weidman. The Judge opted to not go with the recommended bail and set bail at $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond.
