GENESEE FALLS — A Belfast man who was injured in a logging accident June 21 died five days later, The Daily Reporter learned today.

The Wyoming County Sheriff's Office reported that on June 21, the New York State Park Police, Pike Fire Department, and Nunda Fire Department responded to a property off of Glen Iris Road near Letchworth State Park to assist the man injured in the accident. The victim was identified as Herbert Howe III, 43.

Howe was flown by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He succumbed to his injuries Monday. His death was ruled an accident.

After responding to the location, it was determined that the accident occurred on private property and not on state land, resulting in the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office being requested to handle the investigation.
