DANSVILLE — A local auto parts store complained about one of it's employees who allegedly stole money from the store by supplying false information about payments and expenses that happened during his employment.
Carlos, Arriaga, 39, of Dansville was arrested after a criminal investigation.
"The investigation discovered and alleges that between August 2016 and June 2017, Arriaga would supply his employer with duplicate gas receipts from the same purchase and collect double the reimbursement for the gas purchase," said Sheriff Thomas Dougherty. "It is alleged that Arriaga collected well over $1,000 that he was not entitled to receive."
Arriaga was arrested for fourth-degree grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records; both charges are class E Felonies.
Arriaga was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and held in pre-arraignment detention. The District Attorney's Office recommended bail be set at $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond.
Arriaga was later arraigned before Justice Kenney in the Village of Dansville Court. The Judge did remand Arriaga to the custody of the Sheriff on the recommended bail.
The investigation is continuing with the possibility of more charges to follow.
The investigation was handled by Sheriff’s Investigator Josh Monster.
