Three Event Highlights
1. The Nunda Historical Society's fourth Biennial History Days offers two days of history adventures for the whole family on Oct. 10 and 11.
2. There will be a wide range of historical activities exploring different aspects of the past. Visitors can do everything from talking with a soldier in the War of 1812,trying out grandma?fs sewing machine and traditional crafts, or "hunting" with the ancient atlatl. There will be also a 19th century blacksmith, spinning, a frontier camp, early American tools, a chance to learn the history of photography, traditional American music and instruments and much more.
3. The Nunda Historical Society will also be hosting the special presentation, "Western New York in the War of 1812" by Ford Best at the Historical Building on Wednesday Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. The talk is free and open to the public.
Why you should attend
"This is a great opportunity for individuals and families to experience different aspects of life in the past. There is something for all interest and ages, and lots of hands-on activities. The best time for the general public to attend is after 3 pm on Wednesday, since we will have local students during school hours, but of course everyone is welcome on either day. Your participation will support the Nunda Historical Society and the area residents who are giving the presentations." Tom Cook, Society President.
