Plan ahead and turn your clocks back an hour on Saturday night so as to make church on time Sunday morning! When you read this column, I am hoping that you were prepared for the monster storm and are helping out your neighbors that are not so fortunate.
Thank you to all the volunteers and participants for the Spaghetti Dinner and Music Jam at Websters Crossing United Methodist Church this past week. Our next one will be a week early so we can all enjoy Thanksgiving Dinner the following Thursday. Mark your calendar for Thursday, Nov. 15.
And while you are at it, please put the Websters Crossing Christmas Bazaar, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on your calendar as well. The food at the lunch bar is always delicious, and at a good price too. You won’t want to miss the blueberry pie made by Sylvia Pifer. While others are charging up to $4.25 for a piece of pie, $1 each is a great bargain. That is right. A bowl of soup or chili for $1; a ham, egg, or tuna sandwich for a $1; and dessert for a $1.
Also on Saturday, Nov. 3, enjoy the best turkey and trimmings dinner in town by going to the Springwater United Methodist Church harvest dinner at the Springwater Fire Hall 4-7 p.m. The signs are all over the place and I do hope you will go for a take-out or a sit-down meal and enjoy the company of others.
The Annual Halloween Party sponsored by the Springwater Fire Department last Saturday was attended by many families in the community and all enjoyed the games and refreshments. The youngest child in costume was Amelia Curran, 6 months old. The winners of the costume judging were as follows in age groups 0-3, 4-7, and 8-12, respectively, in each category:
Funniest – Madailein Wise, Lilly Marialke, Brandon Canute.
Scariest – Kaitlin Schafer, Alec Yacono, Cassie Batzel.
Prettiest – Gianna Teed, Briannah Richardson, Erica Nadeau.
Most Original – Christopher O’Leary, Dolan Cotter, and Alex Sanders.
Michele Nadeau, chairperson for this event, did an excellent job of providing an afternoon of entertainment for all. Her helpers included department and community members. Doing Community Service, the Girl Scouts that helped are Kaitlin Harter, Morgan Hegadone, Alex Relyea and Breanna Palmer. Many thanks go to Sue Sahrle for providing the information.
Unfortunately the Springwater Trails hike on the Finger Lakes Trail Letchworth Branch was cancelled due to the weather last Sunday. Please join us for next week’s hike. More details about Bristol Hill 2-4 p.m. will be available by midweek at springwatertTrails.org.
On Nov. 6, vote and then go to the annual Scalloped Potatoes and Ham Election Day Dinner by the Springwater Fire Department at the Fire Hall from noon until 6 p.m. Chef Chris Naczynski will head up the group of department members who will be preparing and serving the dinner. Homemade desserts donated by many community and department members are always a special treat. Take-outs are available.
