Since the library opened in the winter, and a VIP unveiling ceremony in November happened during a snowstorm, it was decided to wait until better weather to have a formal ribbon-cutting and grand opening ceremony for its $3 million renovation and expansion project.

Roughly 75 people gathered at the library’s main entrance at 11 a.m. May 5. Library staff, board members, Friends of the Library and anyone else who wanted to participate took scissors in hand and sliced the ribbon to mark the last official celebratory act for the new facility.

During the short ceremony, board secretary Mary Ann Holden thanked the many people and entities that made this project possible, which included the board members, staff members, library director Terry Dearing, the construction and architectural firms as well as USDA and Community Bank for financing, Livingston County Chamber of Commerce and Senator Catharine Young’s office.

Refreshments, an open house and a guided tour then commenced inside.
