The Community Bank in Alfred was robbed today around 2 p.m. on Main Street, and a suspect is allegedly in custody.
The same bank was robbed last month on a Friday (Jan. 4, 2013) at 1 p.m. and police were unable to catch the suspect.
Police tell the Daily Reporter he side-swiped a vehicle on Church street, almost hit a police car then crashed after a pursuit.
While police said they have not seen a driver's license to confirm his identify, the Daily Reporter has learned he is a 1979 Wellsville High School graduate. We will release the name when police confirm.
The suspect crashed on Water Wells Road and was taken to Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville.
The Allegany County Sheriff's Department issued a travel advisory today as roads are snow covered and extremely slippery.
