When Bill’s Restaurant closed, even those in other communities expressed their disappointment. But in just a few weeks, it will be resurrected as Bill’s Outpost Restaurant.
Lisa Chizuk bought the property a little less than two months ago, and with some of her own elbow grease and with the help of some friends, has been remodeling the interior to bring a new look to the local establishment.
“It’s a fesh, clean look,” she said. “Everything’s been updated from the floor to the ceiling.”
The goal is to give it a country look with a relaxing atmosphere, which will include a sports room with two mounted television screens and barrel tables so that families can watch the big game.
But for those wishing to dine, a more formal family dining area will be located in the back.
A bar area will be located near the front.
Chizuk is also fucusing on a new menu, which will include the traditional prime rib, Sunday brunch and Saturday buffet. New features will include lasagna, chili, and homemade soups.
“We’re really shooting for homemade, not frozen [foods].”
Chizuk will be cooking the homemade dishes herself, plus hiring a chef. She anticipates hiring six employees altogether.
“I want to focus on a nice family, fun atmosphere where people can come and relax,” she said, adding that she wants to try and keep the tradition that the previous owner started a long time ago.
“Bill put a lot of love into this and hopefully we can continue that with the community.”
Although she has worked as a manager in the bar and restaurant industry for 14 years, this is Chizuk’s first forray into owning her own business.
A specific opening date has not been announced yet, but Chizuk hopes to be open by the end of October.
