Residents and traveling visitors need to come through Nunda during the month of October and the community’s annual Fall in Nunda celebration. The leaves are already starting to change, the first day of Autumn was Sept. 22 and the celebration begins Oct. 1.
“Create and decorate, let your imagination show the beautiful color and design the autumn seasons brings to our community,” said Cindy Welch, president of the Nunda Chamber of Commerce, “The hearts of our community businesses and youth really get creative.”
Welch said she encourages everyone to enter the annual Scare Crow Contest and display them from Oct. 8 to Nov. 1. Judging forms and additional details can be found on the Chamber website, www.nundachamber.org, and at Journey Quilt Company in the Nunda Village square.
Scarecrows on display will be marked with the name and number. The Nunda Chamber will judge entrants submitted by the public.
Judging will run Oct. 9-22 and awarded on Oct. 23.
“Creativity is a must, or just really encouraged”, Welch said with a smile, “and our success is neighbor participation, both in the Village square and throughout the resident neighborhoods.”
She encourages residents further saying, “if you have a guest in the area during this time, invite them to join you for a walk around to be another judge and enjoy the Fall outing.”
Fall in Nunda is a time to reflect on our community and our local businesses. Stirring up business and promoting local talent, products and services is what the celebration is all about. Neighbor towns and villages are absolutely encouraged to stop and see the fun and resources we have in Nunda.
