Dansville Parent Teacher Organization hosted its third annual Fall Festival on Saturday, and with it, gave local children an opportunity to do more than just have a fun time.
The festival was conducted in the primary school gymnasium and cafeteria where children in grades K through 6 had the chance to hop around in a bounce house and play Dance Revolution, as well as take a dip in the high school pool.
But beyond that, the free event came with somewhat of a cost. Kids were asked to make a contribution to the district’s backpack program, where needy students are discreetly sent home with canned and boxed foods in a backpack after school.
The event netted four boxfulls of food, or an estimated 125 items altogether.
In addition, Karie Frisiras, PTO president, said that she was impressed with $44 collected in an impromptu effort to help Hurricane Sandy victims in New York City and New Jersey through Clara Barton Chapter #1 of the American Red Cross.
