Wayland-Cohocton Schools
Congratulations to the Middle School Robotics Club which competed in the FLL Regional Qualifier in Pal-Mac on Saturday. This club has an amazing history and this year continues it by qualifying for the University of Rochester Tournament four of the five years it has competed. This year is marked by special accomplishment as both Wayland-Cohocton teams that competed will advance. Competing in a field of about 36 teams, it was quite something to have both teams selected for advancement. The EAA team was recognized for their overall consistent performance in all aspects of the competition and their outstanding teamwork throughout the day. The Elder Helpers were awarded trophies for Best Robot Performance and Second Overall Champion. They were also recognized for their project during the advancement ceremony. Congratulations to all of the kids: The EAA: Garret Beaupre, Harley Guck, Hannah Burke, Lanie Coley, Everett Davison, and Robert Totten; The Elder Helpers Team: Philip Groshner, Logan Lock and Megan Allen. The University of Rochester Competition is Sunday, Dec. 9. The afternoon robot competition is open to the public and we encourage any Lego enthusiasts to come out and support these incredible teams. It is an incredible opportunity for them. Thank you to all of the families that supported the students this weekend and during their preparation. In the final week the students worked 17 hours together in addition to their class time, taking a big chunk out of their family time.
This paper goes to press as our students and staff take a break for Thanksgiving vacation. As a district we are thankful for the support from our family and from the community that make so many things possible for our students. Whenever a need arises it seems someone steps up to fill the call and do whatever is necessary to help support students. Through these lean times this is a challenge and yet, we see glowing examples of the many reasons we can count our blessings. From everyone at the Wayland-Cohocton schools, we wish you and yours a very wonderful Thanksgiving and hope this year has provided you with many blessings.
Upcoming events:
Remember to check the school website calendar for up-to-date information. The athletic calendar also features a comprehensive schedule of athletic contests as the winter season begins to roll out.
