Dansville Central School District received welcome news last week. In a letter from Sen. Catherine Young, Dansville school leaders learned of a grant-in-aid for universal pre-kindergarten and anti-bullying initiatives for the 2011-12 school year. In addition, Senator Young secured nearly $9,000 to help Dansville combat bullying and comply with the new Dignity for All Students Act.

“Senator Young continues to demonstrate that she has the best interests of Dansville children foremost in mind," said superintendent Paul Alioto. "The Dansville school community has a friend and advocate in Albany and we are sincerely grateful.”

Young noted that these are non-recurring funds to be used before the end of the school year.

“My hope is that [Dansville] will be able to use the additional aniti-bullying program funding to support and enhance [their] efforts to better educate children, staff, parents and our communities about the dangers of bullying and the success of prevention education,” she said.
