NUNDA — Keshequa Central School capital improvements will be a two-phase project, officials said at a meeting last week.
Phase one will begin this summer and will include roof repairs and new windows. The second phase is expected to begin at the end of the year and will upgrade the track, parking lot and driveway.
The leaking elementary school will have parts of its roof renovated. The west and east wing roofs will be repaired, as well as the roof over the auditorium.
Middle school windows will be replaced.
The project, which will cost $6.5 million, will be aided in part by the state Education Department and in part by money in the capital reserve.
Don Covell, superintendent of Keshequa Central School, was pleased with the report that was given.
The board also named Thomas Kelleher interim principal of the middle and high school after Kermit Moyer recently resigned.
Kelleher brings 26 years of experience to Keshequa, most recently as high school principal in the Letchworth Central School District.
