Are you surprised Dansville's school budget was voted down?

Results of Tuesday's school budget and board of education votes.

Dansville

Dansville Central School's budget fell short of passage in today's vote, garnering just 45 percent of reported votes. The school board proposed a $27,034,578 budget for the 2011-12 school year, along with a 7.9 percent tax increase. The proposal had 464 votes in favor and 570 against.

Two seats were open on the school board. Matthew Crane and Brian Applin had the highest number of votes with 687 and 621 votes respectively. Donna Flaherty had 592 votes.

Wayland-Cohocton

Wayland-Cohocton voters passed the school's budget 297-148. In Proposition 1, the board had set the budget at $27,918,992 with a vehicle and equipment reserve fund of $545,000. A second proposition for a vehicle and equipment reserve fund renewal passed 291-144.

Suzanne May, the only school board candidate on the ballot received 381 votes.

Keshequa

Voters in Keshequa Central School passed the budget of $18,251,276 by a 46-percent margin. Votes in favor totalled 206; votes against the budget were 78.

A second proposition to purchase buses at a cost of $220,000 passed 192-71.

Amy Bugman was the lone candidate for school board. She received 239 votes.
