DANSVILLE — As budget talks continue at Dansville Central School, Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s budget proposal seems a little too generous.
Despite the executive proposal claiming Dansville will benefit from a $601,340 increase, the reality is they will receive an increase of only $245,000, school officials said.
A New York state education law which regulates building aid provided to schools took effect this year and was not accounted for in Cuomo’s budget proposal.
When the law is factored in, the decrease in the district’s building aid could be $264,000.
BOCES aid was proposed at an increase of $27,760. DCS officials expect the increase to be $20,000.
When the transportation aid difference is figured in as well, the overall difference between Cuomo’s proposed budget and the aid that will be given to Dansville is $356,000, officials said
