Looking for something a little different this summer...visit the Hualapai Lodge on historic Route 66 and learn how to make traditional Native American dream catchers in the "Create and Keep Dream Catcher Classes".

The fun begins in July 2012 at the Hualapai Lodge on Historic Route 66 in Peach Springs, AZ, Hualapai artisans will teach guests how to make traditional Native American dream catchers. The classes are open to overnight guests of the lodge.

Classes are available multiple days during the week and run from 7:00 p.m.to 9:00 p.m. The cost per person is $10 plus tax. The price includes all the materials and hands on instruction.  You will need reservations for the class.

A little history on the dream catcher...the intention was to protect a sleeping individual from bad dreams. Yet, the positive dreams would come through the hole in the center and glide down the feathers to the sleeping person. The negative dreams would get caught in the web and expire when the early morning rays of the sun would strike them.

This has been part of the Native American culture for generations. The hoop if the dream catcher is traditional and some Native Americans have held the hoop in the highest esteem because it was a symbol of strength and unity.

If you would like more information or to make a reservation call Hualapai Tourism at 1-888-868-9378 or 1-928-769-2636.

There is a lot more to see and do at the Hualapai Nation. Just to give you a hint...did you know the Hualapai manages Grand Canyon West? They actually own 180 miles of the famed canyon.
