Tech Talk

Smart phones and tablets are becoming major targets for cyber-crime, according to a CNN report. Computer security firm McAfee said in its latest threat report that 95 percent of all mobile malware had been created in the last year. Because many smartphones have banking information stored on them, "Trojan horse" viruses can use SMS cards to take money with every text a victim sends.

Mobiel devices can also be more vulnerable to other types of cyber-attacks. Smaller screens and simplified sites developed for mobiel phones make it easier for hackers to create realistic-looking banking sites. Victims then enter passwords or personal information that can be used to gain access to accounts, which is sent to the cyber-attacker.
