PAINTED POST— The couple reported missing on the morning of July 21 have been located after one week of searching in Bedford, PA, according to the New York State Police
April L. Culbertson, 27, of Addison and Kyle J. McNeill, 22, of Lindley, were seen leaving a residence in Lindley together on July 21 in a blue 2004 Subaru Legacy station wagon. According to police, the two allegedly left the residence after a dispute.
The couple was located by the Pennsylvania State Police Monday morning walking on the side of the road in Bedford. Inv. Brian Kozemko reported that the two began walking after their car had run out of gas. Bedford is located about half way between Pittsburgh and Harrisburg.
According to Kozemko, the incident was not a kidnapping, contrary to the beliefs of Culbertson’s family, which were expressed in Friday’s Tribune. Culbertson voluntarily accompanied McNeill.
It was reported in the article that Culbertson had an order of protection against McNeill, and investigators confirmed that Monday. According to Kozemko, the order of protection was issued after McNeill was charged with second-degree assault along with a number of other offenses. Culbertson was the victim in the alleged assault.
Police believe the couple fled as a result of McNeill’s pre-trial release being violated. The two were not supposed to be in contact, and McNeill would be arrested if the two were found together.
McNeill has been remanded to the Bedford County Jail and awaits extradition to back to New York. Further charges are pending upon his arrival.
Culbertson was questioned and released. The New York State Police are no longer seeking the assistance of the public in locating the couple.
