The National Warplane Museum off Route 63 in Geneseo will be the site for World Champion Pilot Rob Holland performing some aerial acrobatics at approximately 5:30 PM on Thursday, July 10th. There is no charge, open to the public, and no reservations are required.
The Springwater hikers were scheduled to enjoy Highland Park, Mount Hope Cemetery and “A Mid-summer Night’s Dream” last Saturday. Seven hikers, and five well behaved leashed dogs, were in two hike groups. Eight attended the social, and seven people and five dogs enjoyed the Shakespeare in the park production. Details of the day are posted at the SpringwaterTrails.org website. This Sunday, July 13, hikers can choose the Wesley Hill hike at a pace of their choice at gathering time of 4 p.m. and kayakers can choose to kayak on the Honeoye Lake Inlet with gathering time of 3:45 p.m. Details can be downloaded from the Springwater Trails.org website. The social afterwards will be at Amy’s home and the maps will be given out at the hike and kayak sites.
Here is hoping your fourth of July weekend turned out to be a patrioticcelebration, as mine did. I spent the time in Lee Center, NY and enjoyed a great red, white and blue picnic at my daughter Jerrianne’s home with family and friends on the fifth. Jerrianne made a delicious baked chicken, Stephen grilled turkey burgers and fixed deviled eggs, I took lettuce and kale from my garden for the base for the tossed salad and then augmented it with red pepper, celery, carrots, broccoli, tomatoes, sunflower seeds and croutons. Others brought baked beans, fruit salad, cantaloupe and sliced watermelon. Jerrianne baked brownies, oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies and served iced lemonade and a soda selection. We watched the Lee Center Fire Department Fireworks display from the front yard, a ring side seat of ideal proportions. Spectacular hanging stars and brilliant bursts of silver, red, white, blue and green graced the sky for a good 30 minutes. Then a bon fire with S’mores and toasted marshmallows topped off the evening.
If you haven’t already booked anything for July 24, which is only two weeks away, I am hoping that you can attend the Spaghetti Dinner / Music Jam at Webster’s Crossing Church. Food is served from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. by donation and the music goes on into the night as long as people are enjoying a good time.
Wild black raspberry picking time is here! This rain is plumping them up nicely, and the thought of vanilla ice-cream with fresh berries is mouthwatering.
