DANSVILLE – Margaret J. Donovan died Friday, July 4 at St. John's Home in Rochester after a long illness at the age of 87.
Margaret was born in Potsdam on November 27, 1926. She was the daughter of the late John and Bessie (Fisk) Donovan. She received her Bachelor of Education degree from SUNY Potsdam in 1948, a Bachelor's Degree in Library Science from SUNY Geneseo in 1951 and an M.S. in Library Science from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. In 1968. Margaret worked in the Veterans' Administration Libraries in New York, Washington D.C. and Maryland. In April of 1984, she retired form the V.A. at Fort Howard, Maryland.
Margaret then relocation to Corning to be near her family and later she moved to Dansville. She volunteered for many organizations, such as the Corning Children's Center, the Head Start Programs Library and the Bath V.A. Medical Library. She was a member of the Legion of Mary and a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Dansville.
Margaret is survived by her niece Joan (Michael) Henchen of Geneseo, grand-niece Linda (Brian) Trahan, grand-nephews Nark Schede, Michael Paige Henchen Jr. and Robert Henchen. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Kathleen Donovan Schede and nephew David Schede.
Calling hours were from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 7 at the Sullivan Funeral Home and Cremation Center at 4 Perine St. in Dansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Dansville. Internment will be held at the convenience of the family in Nicholville. Memorial contributions may be made to catholic Charities of Livingston County at 34 Seat State St. in Mt. Morris.
