Livingston County Sheriff's Office deputies say one person died after a head-on collision around 7 a.m. on Route 256 near Schafer and Schuster roads.
Police said John Linehan, 22, of Livonia, was driving a black, 2010 Subaru Impreza and was heading southbound on Route 256 when he tried to pass a dump truck. While attempting the pass, he hit a red Hyundai, which was driven by Theodore Markel, 41, of Dansville, deputies said. Riding as passengers in Markel's vehicle were Matthew Markel and Joe Greene, both of Dansville.
Ted Markel was pronounced dead at the scene, according to deputies. The three others were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, one by ambulance and two via mercy flight. Linehan was listed in satisfactory condition by hospital staff at noon today.
There is no word on the conditions of Matthew Markel or Joe Greene.
