  • BOLIVAR — It is that time of year again when students across the county play their instruments and raise their voices in song as part of the annual All-County Honors Music Festival and concerts. Hosted by the Allegany County School Music Association, the best of the county’s student vocalists and musicians will perform in two All-County Honors Music Festival concerts. The first concert will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bolivar Richburg Central School. The second will take place at 2 p.m. March 22 at Houghton College. Tickets for each concert are $3 for adults, $2 for students and $6 for families. Senior citizens are free. Saturday’s concert in Bolivar will feature the All-County Junior High Honors Band, Senior High Honors Choir and the All-Country Honors Jazz Band. In addition, one or more of the ACSMA Music Scholarship winners will perform. The March 22 concert will feature the Senior High Honors Band, All-County Junior High Honors Chorus and the All-County Honors 6th Grade Chorus. In addition, one or more of the scholarship winners will perform. At Saturday’s concert in Bolivar, scholarship winner Leah Kelly Simon, a seventh-grade student at Andover Central School, will play Michel Blaveh’s: Suite No. 3 “La Dhévouville.” She will be accompanied by her music teacher, Michael Shoales, who is the publicity person for ACSMA. “More than 500 students from across the county perform in these concerts and they work very hard practicing on their own and in the group rehearsals. They deserve to be recognized,” Shoales said. Houghton Academy Music Teacher Rebekah Brennan will conduct the 20 members of the All-County Jazz Band.
