  • HORNELL Police said a report of a child being locked out of her house has led to the arrest of Hornell man.
Robert Dowdle, Jr., 38, of 1143 #4 Airport Rd., Hornell, was charged Wednesday with endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.
"The arrest was the result of Dowdle allegedly (being) unable to provide adequate guardianship of his child due to his level of intoxication," Bath-based State Police Inv. Jennifer L. Cole said in a news release.
Troopers were dispatched at approximately 8:41 p.m., Feb. 22, to McKendrick Park to investigate a complaint of a 10-year-old child locked out of her house. The person who called police said they were unable to locate the child's parents.
