DANSVILLE — Four people were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital Sunday afternoon following a fiery two car accident that occurred on Route 256 in Dansville.

According to the Geneseo-based State Police, the accident happened on Route 256 near Dieter Road just before 1 p.m. and resulted in all four occupants of the vehicles being transported to Strong Memorial Hospital.

"This was not a fatal accident," said lead investigator Mike Kleinhans. "But all four people in the vehicle were transported to the hospital."

While the names of those persons have not yet been released, Kleinhans has reported that one car was being driven by a 32-year-old male. He was the lone occupant in the vehicle.

The other vehicle was being driven by a 19-year-old male with two passengers, another 19-year-old male and a 17-year-old female.

According to deputies, the 32-year-old male was transported to Strong with a compound fracture of his femur, and the 19-year-old male driver was transported with a broken foot. The other two passengers suffered minor injuries.

The investigation is currently ongoing and charges are pending. Also responding to the call was the Livingston County ALS, the Dansville Fire Department, the West Sparta Fire Department and the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.
