DANSVILLE— After more than a decade of being a part of the Dansville Central School District, Amy Schiavi announced her resignation as principal of grades seven through nine today.
Schiavi began her career at Dansville as a seventh grade math teacher in 2000, she also worked as an eighth grade math teacher before being promoted to her current position as principal. Prior to working at DCS, Schiavi taught at Crestwood Children’s Center in Rochester.
“I care deeply for the children and families I have come to know in the Dansville community, and I leave with fond memories of the time I spent here,” Schiavi said. “I’m thankful for the opportunities that have been provided, the support I received and the opportunity to work with such a talented group of individuals.”
Dr. Paul Alioto, Dansville superintendent, described Schiavi as a courageous educational leader.
“The greater the challenge, the greater her resolve,” he said. “Our school community has benefitted from Ms. Schiavi’s leadership and we are very grateful for her service to the children and families of Dansville.”
Schiavi will end her career at Dansville on Feb. 7 and then move on to the Rochester City School District where she will serve as chief of secondary schools.
Michael Falzoi, co-principal with Schiavi, will assume leadership responsibilities for the entire secondary program. The district will fill the vacant administrative position with an interim administ
