  • Harriet Hollister Spencer State Recreation Area was the site for the first Springwater Trails hike of 2014. Eighteen hikers joined Springwater Trails at the parking lot and split into three groups. The skiers, the climbers on snowshoes, and the tourists on snowshoes or in hiking boots covered most of the well-groomed trails in the park and enjoyed the sounds of the winter forest. This weekend, Sunday January 12, the group will hike the Wesley Preserve on the East side of Honeoye Lake. Check the website http://springwatertrails.org for more information.
Are you looking for something new to learn or different people with whom to converse? Then plan to contact Melonie Coley by phone (585-728-2366 ext. 3070) or by email (mcoley@wccsk12.org) at Wayland-Cohocton Central School regarding the course offerings still having open enrollments this semester.
“Trust In the Lives of Older Women’s Group” will meet January 15 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wayland Free Library. Although our fearless leader and coordinator, Marian Crawford, cannot attend, we will be having a “Serendipity” meeting. We will have prayers and kind thoughts for her as she deals with some serious health issues. The group meets the first and third Wednesdays of each month and we look forward to having Marian back with us in February.

Two weeks have passed quickly at my daughter’s home. We’ve enjoyed Christmas Eve Mass, wrapping and opening gifts, preparing Christmas dinner and hosting guests. We’ve done the usual housekeeping like laundry and dishes, but also deep cleaning of freezers and pantry area. We’ve baked breads and frosted cookies together. In between, I did some reading and finished the books “Lucky” by Glenn Packiam, “My Heart Lies South” by Elizabeth Borton de Treviño and “The Christmas Journey” by Donna VanLiere. Playing Scrabble and eating meals with the whole family has been a treat.
